Vinson Kicks off Day One of the 2013 Texas Relays For Portland State Track and Field


DAY ONE RESULTS
 
AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Joenisha Vinson finished the day in eighth place in the heptathlon as the multi-event participant kicked off the 2013 Texas Relays for Portland State, in Austin, Texas on Wednesday. Vinson competed in four of the seven events on the first day of the meet.
 
Vinson started with a 13th-place showing in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 14.36 seconds and earning 928 points, and followed it up with 736 points in the high jump with a distance of 1.60m (5-03.00), good for a 15th.
 
The Phoenix, Ariz., native fared better in the next too events, tallying an eighth and seventh-place finish in the Shot Put and 200-meter dash, respectively.
 
In the shot put, Vinson tallied a distance of 12.06m (39-07.00) earning 665 points while she recorded a time of 24.98 seconds and 889 points in the 200m.
 
Vinson is on track to challenge the PSU program-best in the heptathlon set by Robin Unger in 1996 with a final mark of 5,356 points through the seven events.
 
Vinson will conclude the Heptathlon on Thursday as the Viks will continue competition on Thursday through Saturday. Check back to GoViks.com for updated results.
