Portland State Men’s Indoor Track and Field Concludes Jacksons Open

NAMPA, Idaho – After only competing in one event during the first day of competition, the Portland State men's indoor track and field team participated in seven events on the final day of the Jacksons Open, hosted by Boise State.

Sean MacKelvie, Rockwell Tufty and Tyson Stipic all turned in strong performances in the jump events as Mackelvie took third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.77 (45-02.25) while Tufty and Stipic placed second and third in the high jump with marks of 2.00m (6-06.75) and 1.90m (6-02.75), respectively.

In the sprint events Sheldon Prince took 12th overall in the 200-meter event, recording a time of 22.72. The Viks also looked strong in the 400m with Herman Roseburg taking fifth overall, with a time of 49.91, Briley Beaton taking sixth with a time of 49.92 and
Marquese Brown recording a time of 51.77 and a 11th-place finish.

Meanwhile the relay team comprised of Chris Fasching, Beaton and Brown registered a fifth overall finish with a time of 3:24.05.

Portland State now has little over a month before its next competition when the team heads up to Seattle, Wash., for the UW Preview.
