EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Tony Crisofuli broke Portland State's school-record in the 800-meters today to lead the Vikings on the final day of the Oregon Relays. His time of 1:49.11 surpassed the five year-old record by .36 seconds. Freshman
Luke Leddige and senior
Adrienne Davis also highlighted the final day for PSU.
Crisofulli, a native of Vail, Colo., finished fourth overall in the 800-meters with his time and improved his career-best by .65 seconds. His 1:49.76 last season qualified him for the NCAA West Regional and this year's improvement will likely qualify him for this year's as well. Crisofulli had not run the 800-meters since March 26 at the Stanford Invitational and has primarily ran the 400 and 1,500-meters in that time span.
Leddige, a native of Beaverton and a graduate of Southridge, finished fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles with his 14.89, tying the eighth-fastest time in school history. The time also qualified him for the Big Sky Championship May 11-14, to be held in Sacramento, Calif.
Davis improved her career-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 3.5 inches, the second longest throw at PSU. She finished third overall in the event and now trails record holder Caressa Sims (2005-08) by exactly one foot.
Sophomore
Geronne Black finished second in the 100-meters with her time of 11.80, trailing winner Mandy White of Oregon by .20 seconds. White's time of 11.60 broke the meet's 17-year old record, formerly held by Eastern Washington's Joyce Rainwater, also the Big Sky's all-time record holder in the event.
The Big Sky's reigning Field Athlete of the Week, junior
Joenisha Vinson, finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 13.99 seconds. It marked the second-consecutive week she ran a time under 14 seconds in the event.
Junior
J.J. Rosenberg, a day off winning his heat in the 200-meters, recorded a time of 49.08 seconds in the 400-meters to finish eighth-overall. Rosenberg's time is .18 shy of the Big Sky's qualification time in the event.
Portland State will close its season two weeks from today, May 7, right back at Hayward Field for the Oregon Twilight.
