EUGENE, Ore. - The Portland State women's tennis team opened their season this afternoon against Oregon and turned a new leaf. Though the Vikings were downed by the Ducks, 7-0, they battled hard and grinded out their matches.
Freshman
Marina Todd, in her duel collegiate debut, fought admireably with Oregon's Molly McDevitt at No. 6. After dropping her first set 6-3, Todd bounced back in the second and defeated by the same 6-3 score. After pushing the match to the distant third set, she would 6-0 to McDevitt and leave the Duck remembering her name.
The Viks return to action Jan. 29 for a match at Lewis & Clark and will follow up on Jan. 30 with their home-opener against UC Davis at Club Green Meadows.
