OPENING TIP
A big week of home basketball lies ahead for the Portland State Vikings as they host Idaho on Thursday and Eastern Washington on Saturday. PSU holds a two-game lead in the Big Sky Conference standings over Montana State with five games to play in the regular season. A successful week at home will go a long way toward achieving the dream of a league title.
    Â
PSU (17-7, 11-2) hosts Idaho on Thursday in a 6 p.m. game (not the usual 7 p.m.) sponsored by OnPoint Community Credit Union. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU - a first for the Viking Pavilion venue since it opened in 2018. Portland State games have been live streamed on ESPN+ for several seasons and has had one previous home game televised on ESPNU – a Feb. 21, 2009 contest with Boise State (and 93-81 Viking win). That game aired from the old Stott Center gymnasium, which has since been converted to a practice gym and office space.
    Â
The Vikings won at Idaho on Jan. 24, 69-66, and will hope for a season sweep on their home court. PSU is 9-2 at Viking Pavilion this season, 33-5 on its home court over the past three seasons.
    Â
Portland State comes off its first road loss since Dec. 20, 2025, in a 77-65 defeat at Northern Colorado on Saturday. It was also the largest deficit in a loss this season. The Vikings stumbled on offense, shooting only .382 from the field and .615 at the line. That was a bit of a surprise after a season-best .619 shooting performance (.815 at the line) in a Thursday win at Northern Arizona. Despite the loss the Vikings have won 11 of 13 in conference play and are 5-1 in Big Sky home games.
    Â
PSU features the Big Sky's leading scorer in SR F
Terri Miller Jr. (19.7 ppg, .523 FG%), the Big Sky's leading rebounder in SR C
Tre-Vaughn Minott (8.7 rpg, 10.8 ppg, .660 FG%), and one of the league's most dynamic players in SR G
Jaylin Henderson (17.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.8 apg).
    Â
Idaho (14-12, 6-7) comes to Viking Pavilion battling for position in the Big Sky standings. The Vandals are one of four teams separated by a single game between 4th and 7th place. They are 5-8 on the road this season.
    Â
Idaho won its last game, a 99-69 blowout of Idaho State at home, but had lost five of six games prior to that. The Vandals are a strong offensive team, averaging nearly 80 points and a league-leading 10.3 three-pointers made per game.
    Â
COMING UP
On Saturday, the Vikings play Eastern Washington in a 2 p.m. game at Viking Pavilion. Next week, the Vikings go on the road to play at Montana State (Feb. 26) and Montana (Feb. 28). The season finale takes place on Mar. 2 against Weber State in Viking Pavilion. All games air on ESPN+.
