EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team faced Oregon for the second time in three days to open its 2026 campaign, falling 4-0 on Sunday at the Student Tennis Center.
After playing a full match on Thursday, the Vikings (0-2) and Ducks (5-0) played to a clinch on Sunday. Portland State earned a point in the first meeting behind a singles win from
Maas Schotanus. On Sunday, the Vikings took a couple of sets from Oregon, but the Ducks secured the doubles point and three singles victories to clinch the match, leaving three singles matches unfinished.

The Vikings went toe-to-toe with the Ducks in doubles play.
Luca Prino and
Luke Lu fell to Cameron Burton and Lachlan Robertson, 6-4, at line two, before
Aarjun Pandit and
Ignacio Ruiz were edged by Vlad Beazu and Declan Galligan, 7-5, at line three.
Edoardo Cravanzola and Schotanus were leading 6-5 on the top court when the doubles point was decided.

The Ducks earned straight-set victories at lines one, four and six to secure the dual. The remaining courts were tightly contested, with Ruiz locked in a three-set battle against Burton on court five and Schotanus leading Robertson, 7-6 (5), 2-0, on court three. Pandit had taken five games from Pierre Mouesca at line two but trailed 6-3, 4-2 when the match was called.

The Vikings return to action next week with a trip across the river to face the University of Portland on Saturday, January 24, at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center (10:00 a.m.).
