SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland State women's tennis team came up just short against Seattle U on Saturday at Amy Yee Tennis Center, falling 4-3 despite securing the doubles point to start the match.

The Vikings dropped to 1-3 overall, while the Redhawks improved to 1-5 on the season.

Portland State took an early lead with a pair of 6-4 doubles victories. Nika Beukers and Nene Uemura defeated Seattle U's Jade Quintana and Liliya Dimova on court one, while Ayra Salim and Kasumi Hirayama secured a win over Lola Tavcar and Daria Nazarenko at line three.

In singles play, Hana Abdelhamid earned a straight-set victory over Lola Tavcar on court three, winning 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, Hirayama fought back to defeat Daria Nazarenko in a three-set match, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, at line five. However, the Redhawks clinched the dual with a victory on court one, where Lamija Avdic edged Nika Beukers despite Beukers' comeback attempt, with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

The Vikings will begin their conference schedule next weekend, taking on Weber State on Sunday, March 2, at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center, followed by a match against Idaho State on Monday, March 3.
