OPENING TIP
The Portland State Vikings will look for their first Division I win of the season this Wednesday when they play at the University of San Francisco. It will be only the third time in history, and the first time in nine seasons, that the two schools have met. The game will be played at War Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. and airs on ESPN+.
    Â
PSU and USF are both 1-1 on the season and carry similar resumes. Each has lost to a power conference opponent and defeated a lower division school. The Vikings lost at Stanford by 10 points, then blew out Northwest Indian by 48 points at home. The Dons beat UC Santa Cruz by 45 points at home, then lost at Memphis by six.
    Â
The Vikings are still finding their identity with a lengthy roster and 10 newcomers. They are also missing a few expected rotation players early in the season due to injuries. However, they can lean on three returning starters that were named preseason All-Big Sky Conference in SR F
Terri Miller Jr. (14.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.0 apg), SR G
Jaylin Henderson (19.5 ppg, 3.5 apg, 4.0 spg) and SR C
Tre-Vaughn Minott (8.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg).
    Â
Portland State has shot well with a .550/.389/.704 shooting slash line. The Vikings have been hindered by 28.5 fouls and 17.5 turnovers per game.
    Â
San Francisco is led by forward Mookie Cook - a Portlander - after two games, as he averages 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. He is shooting .619 from the field.
    Â
COMING UP
Portland State will be home for two games next week. The Vikings host Bakersfield (Nov. 17) and Evergreen State (Nov. 19). Following that, four of the final six non-conference games will be on the road.

HOT SHOTS

- MORE DUNKS: The Vikings had 11 dunks against Northwest Indian, and have 15 in two games this season. Last year, they set a school record with 123 dunks as a team.
- VIKINGS OPEN TIDOR: You won't see many better debuts than the one JR G Sebastian Tidor had at Stanford. A redshirt last season, Tidor came off the bench in his first game as a Viking, scoring 22 points (7-11 FG, 6-10 3-pt, 2-2 FT) with seven rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes.
- CHUK CHUK: JR F Charles Chukwu made his debut last Friday against Northwest Indian. And, although it was a lower division opponent, Chukwu had a pretty impressive line, making 7-7 field goals for 14 points and four rebounds in 12 minutes.
- LONG SHOT: The Vikings are hoping SR G Brycen Long can bring three-point shooting to the team this year. His performance against Northwest Indian was a good start. Long hit 5-8 threes for 15 points and handed out four assists in 20 minutes.
- MORE GOOD STUFF THAT DOESN'T FIT ANYWHERE ELSE: JR G Keyon Kensie Jr. had the first double-double of the year for Portland State with 14 points and 12 rebounds against Northwest Indian... - I WANT MY MTV: There is no one more musical than "TV", the Vikings own SR C Tre-Vaughn Minott. He can play seven musical instruments and also enjoys producing music. His mixes can be found on YouTube at Tellavision_topic... Minott is also the long-time boyfriend of Aliyah Boston of the Indiana Fever (they met at South Carolina).
