BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Utah State in their final match of the weekend Sunday at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

The Vikings dropped to 1-2 on the season, while the Aggies improved to 2-1 overall.

Portland State battled in doubles play but came up short, as Utah State secured the opening point with wins at lines one and three. Simon Kuszynski and Andrin Zuellig led 4-3 on court two against Keanu Rigby and Dmitri Goubin before their match was left unfinished.

In singles, Kuszynski delivered the Vikings' lone victory with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Rigby at line six, improving to 2-0 on the season. Following Kuszynski's win, Utah State sealed the match with straight-set victories on courts three, four, and five.

Luca Prino went toe-to-toe with Sergi Mico Fenollar at line one, pushing him to a first-set tiebreak before falling 7-6, 6-0. Similarly, Hubert Theriault tested David Martirosian at the No. 2 spot but fell short 7-5, 6-3.

The Vikings will return to action next weekend in Eugene, facing BYU in a neutral-site contest on Friday, Jan. 31, before taking on the Ducks on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Student Tennis Center.
