CHENEY, Wash. – The Portland State women's soccer team opened their conference slate on the road Friday afternoon, battling Eastern Washington to a 1-1 draw at the EWU Soccer Field.
The Vikings are now unbeaten in their last three outings with a record of 1-0-2, moving to 2-5-2 on the year and 0-0-1 in Big Sky play. The Eagles now stand at 5-4-2 overall and 0-0-1 in conference action.
Portland State has consistently demonstrated their ability to overcome deficits and score clutch, late-game goals this season, and Friday was no exception. Despite a shot-heavy start to the second half, the teams remained scoreless with just 15 minutes left in the match. The momentum shifted when a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick for Eastern Washington, which Kendall Moore converted in the 77th minute to put the Eagles on top.
Less than three minutes later, Portland State equalized in the 80th minute. Freshman Grace Sarabia delivered a well-placed long ball into the box that the EWU goalkeeper misjudged, letting it sail over her head and land perfectly at the foot of Elle Frazier, who tapped it in for her third goal of the season. The assist was the first of Sarabia's collegiate career.

The match ended in a 1-1 tie, with neither team able to find the back of the net in the remaining minutes. Portland State's Eden Millan was stellar in goal, recording a career-high 12 saves—the program's highest single-game save count since 2021. Millan faced 23 shots from the Eagles, who had a slight edge over the Vikings, who ended the match with 20 shots. The Vikings managed to put six of their attempts on target, with Aliayha Saldana leading the charge, recording a team-high four shots.

Portland State will return to action this Sunday, Sept. 29 as they head to Moscow, Idaho, to take on the University of Idaho in a 1:00 PM matchup at the Kibbie Dome.
