HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Portland State women's soccer team rallied in the final minutes against Utah Tech on Friday afternoon at Hillsboro Stadium, scoring late to secure a 1-1 draw with the Trailblazers.

The tie marked the Vikings' first of the season, bringing their record to 1-5-1 overall. Utah Tech, meanwhile, tied for the fourth time this year, moving to 3-2-4.

In just their second-ever meeting, the Vikings and Trailblazers battled through a scoreless first half, with both teams creating several opportunities. The Vikings rattled off nine shots in the opening 45 minutes and earned three corner kicks but couldn't find the back of the net. Starting goalkeeper
Natalie Cunningham kept the Trailblazers at bay, making five saves in the first half to maintain the scoreless tie.

The Trailblazers took the lead shortly after the break, scoring the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute. Portland State's attack continued to apply pressure but it wasn't until the 83rd minute that they found the equalizer.
Ocean Rideout scored, blooping a ball over Utah Tech's goalkeeper following a perfect feed from
Abi Hoffman.

Utah Tech threatened in the final minutes, but Cunningham and the Vikings held them off as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Trailblazers out-shot the Vikings 18-15 as both teams put seven shots on goal. Five Vikings recorded three or more shots in the match but Rideout led the way with four attempts, putting two on goal. Cunningham played the full 90 minutes in goal, finishing with six saves.

Portland State will return to action on Sunday, closing out their non-conference slate with a 1:05 p.m. game against Seattle U at Hillsboro Stadium.
