SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Portland State men's tennis team opened their four-match week with a 4-3 comeback victory over Point Loma at the Point Loma Tennis Courts on Monday.

The Vikings dropped the doubles point but railed back in singles action, improving to 5-9 overall while the Sea Lions dropped to 9-6.

Point Loma started strong, claiming wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles to secure the opening point. They continued their momentum into singles play, grabbing a win at the four spot to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Vikings responded.

Andrin Zuellig opened PSU's scoring with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Elias Weeks at line six before
Jan Semerak pulled off a come-from-behind victory over David Strassburger at line one, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Hembo Mathiasen kept things rolling for the Vikings with another three-set win on court five, defeating Lukas Schuster 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. Coming from behind on court three,
Andrea Brignacca clinched the match for PSU, beating Matt Melosch, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6. Â

The victory, which included three comeback singles wins, was the Vikings' first since beating Eastern Washington on Feb. 25. The Vikings will return to action tomorrow (Tuesday, April 2) against Concordia University Irvine. The match is slated for 1:00 p.m. PT at the CUI Tennis Courts in Irvine.
