HILLSBORO, Ore. – Portland State women's soccer closed out the opening week of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Seattle 5-0 at Hillsboro Stadium.
As a result of Seattle's dominant effort, its season record improved to 1-1-0, while the Vikings' dropped to 0-2-0.
Despite a solid performance in Thursday's season opener, the Vikings were unable to match that on Sunday. The Redhawks set the tone early and never looked back, taking a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. The Redhawks added two more goals to seal the deal, adding to their lead in the 74th minute followed by a successful penalty kick two minutes later to cap off the scoring.
The Vikings finished with 12 shots while Seattle notched 21 attempts.
