ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Portland State softball team was held to just one run in its final game of the Trailblazer Tournament on Sunday as they fell to UNLV 4-1 at Karl Brooks Stadium on the campus of Utah Tech. The Vikings finished the weekend 2-3, moving to 6-13 overall while the Rebels improved to 13-6.
Allicitie Frost took the circle for the Vikings in their weekend finale, tossing six innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. UNLV's Ellie Zellien improved to 3-1 on the year, holding PSU to just two hits in the contest.Â
Frost held the Rebels hitless until the bottom of the third inning, when they used three hits to take a 2-0 lead. In the top of the fourth,
Bailee Noland added to her impressive weekend at the plate, blasting her third home run in three games to cut the deficit to one. UNLV responded with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.Â
The remainder of the game was a pitchers dual as just one hit was recorded in the final 2.5 innings.
Trinity Holden was the only other Viking to record a hit for Portland State, doing so in the fifth inning.Â
Portland State will return to action next weekend in a non-conference three-game series at Boise State (March 11-12).Â
