Box Score 2 BOISE, Idaho – The Portland State softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader on Saturday at Boise State, falling to the Broncos 10-2 and 13-5 at Dona Larsen Park. The Vikings are now 6-15 overall while the Broncos leaped to 11-10 on the year.

Boise State took a quick 2-0 lead in game one before back-to-back RBI from
Olivia Dean and
Emily Johansen knotted the game at two. The Broncos scored eight runs over the next three innings to lock in the run-rule victory, 10-2.

The Vikings were held to just five hits in the loss. Dean led the way in the leadoff spot, tallying a team-high two hits and one RBI.
Allicitie Frost suffered the loss in the circle or PSU.

Runs were scored in all five innings of game two, beginning with a five-run first frame from the Broncos offense. The Vikings battled back, scoring one run in the top of the second, followed by a two-run home run from
Bailee Noland in the top of the third to make it 5-3. After the broncos extended their lead in the third, a pair of RBI from Noland and Johansen kept the Vikings in it at 8-5. BSU added to its lead in the fourth before sealing the deal in the fifth, scoring two runs in to secure its second run-rule victory of the day.

The Vikings recorded double-digit hits in the loss. Noland led the way with three, while
Maddie Thompson added two.
Annie Lemos did most of the work in the circle, tossing four innings before
Sherreigh Nakoa-Chung took things over in the final frame.

The Vikings will close out the three-game series with a single game tomorrow, March 12, against Boise State at Dona Larsen Park (11 a.m.).
