EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team continued its stretch of non-conference matches on Saturday evening, falling 5-2 to Oregon in Eugene. The Vikings dropped to 6-9 overall. The Ducks, who posted a 4-0 win over BYU earlier in the day, improved to 10-6 on the year.

Portland State was one win shy of picking up the doubles point to open the match. After dropping the first two matches at the one and two spots,
Andrea Brignacca and
Luka Jovanovic pulled out a 7-5 win over Joshua Charlton and Russell Soohoo on court three.

Gregory Gruenig and
Jonas Hembo Mathiasen both earned victories in singles play for the Vikings. Mathiasen edged Ivailo Keremedchiev at the No. 3 position, 6-7 (9), 6-2, 1-0 (8). At No. 6 singles, Gruenig cruised to his seventh win of the year, beating Russell Soohoo 6-2, 6-2.

The Vikings will rest next week before heading to Hawaii on March 29-30. They'll open the road trip against Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday, March 29. Â
