Vikings Begin Title Defense Wednesday, Open Big Sky Tournament Against Montana

OGDEN, Utah - The third-seeded Portland State softball team begins its quest for a second-straight Big Sky championship on Wednesday, riding its best regular-season record since 2011. Weber State's Wildcat Softball Field will host the four-day championship tournament featuring the top six teams in the Big Sky.

The Vikings (26-16, 10-5 BSC) will open the double-elimination tournament against No. 6 seed Montana on Wednesday, May 11 (11 am PT). The winner will face No. 2 Sacramento State later that afternoon (4 pm PT), while the loser will return to action in an elimination game on Thursday (11 am PT).

Also vying for the trophy is No. 1 seed Weber State, No. 4 seed Northern Colorado, and No. 5 seed Idaho State. The Champion will earn the Big Sky's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
