HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Portland State softball team took care of business against Southern Utah on Saturday, completing the series sweep with a 2-0 victory at Gordon Faber Field 4.
The Vikings improved to 24-14 overall and 8-4 in Big Sky action. SUU fell to 3-32 and 0-12 in conference play.
A two-out RBI single from Kiara McCrea in the bottom of the second got the morning started for the Vikings. After a quiet four innings, Logan Riggenbach brought in an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.
Holding the Thunderbirds to just two hits while striking out ten, Olivia Grey earned the shutout, improving to 15-5 on the season.
Emily Johansen, Mariah Rodriguez, Riggenbach, and McCrea each recorded a hit for the Vikings.
Taking a break from Big Sky play, the Vikings will return to action in Eugene on Tuesday against the seventeenth-ranked Ducks at Jane Sanders Stadium (6 p.m.).
