BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team fell to Big Sky opponent Montana State 5-2 at the Tualatin Hills Babette Horenstein Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Vikings dropped to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Bobcats improved to 12-5 and 2-0.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead with three-straight doubles wins.
Nils Plutat earned his second-straight three-set win at the No.1 spot, 1-6, 4-6, 4-6, while Sam De Vries did the same at No. 4, with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) over Brad Buckland. Oliver Richards put up a fight on court three, before eventually falling 6-3, 6-5.
The Vikings will get a break before returning to action on April 1 against Oregon.
