After a successful run in the PK80 basketball tournament in 2017, Portland State will return to the latest incarnation of the event, Phil Knight Legacy 2022, this coming Thanksgiving weekend.
 
Born out of the success of the PK80 events, Phil Knight Legacy, hosted by Rip City Management, LLC, will honor Phil Knight and his contribution to the sport of college basketball. Over Thanksgiving four women's and eight men's elite Nike sponsored college basketball teams will compete in Portland in the Phil Knight Legacy.
 
The men's field includes Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Oregon State, Portland State, Purdue, West Virginia and Xavier. Each team will play one game per day in the bracket-style format on November 24, 25 and 27.
 
A women's event featuring Duke, Iowa, Oregon State and UConn will take place on November 25 and 27.
 
All games will take place at The Rose Quarter's Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Chiles Center.

Portland State was a participant in PK80 in November of 2017. In an opening round game with top-ranked Duke on Thanksgiving the Vikings held a lead at halftime before falling to the Blue Devils, 99-81. In a second-round game with Butler, the Vikings had a game-winning shot attempt at the buzzer, but lost 71-69. Then PSU took down Stanford 87-78 in a third-round game.

The Phil Knight Invitational (PKI) will be running simultaneous to the Phil Knight Legacy 2022 at the same venues. That tournament includes Alabama, Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, Portland, UConn and Villanova in the men's bracket. The women's bracket includes Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina and Oregon.
