PORTLAND – The Portland State women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to an undefeated Boise State team on Sunday at Hillsboro Stadium.
The loss drops the Vikings to 1-3-0 overall while the Broncos remain undefeated on the year at 5-0-0.
BSU struck early, netting the first goal of the day in the 6th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Boise State's Morgan Miles added to the lead just six minutes later, securing a 2-0 advantage.
Bronco goalkeeper Genevieve Crenshaw denied a pair of shots from Abi Hoffman and another from Raniyah Burton to keep her team on top through the opening 32 minutes of play. The Vikings headed into halftime trailing 3-0 after giving up the third goal of the afternoon in the 37th minute.
Portland State created multiple opportunities in the second half, firing off a trio of shots in the first four minutes of play. Boise State struck again in the 70th minute to take a 4-0 lead. Despite nine shots in the second period, the Vikings were unable to score, ultimately falling 4-0.
PSU tallied 16 shots, tying its season-high from earlier this season. Meanwhile, the Viking defense held the Broncos to just 12 shots on the day, only five of those coming in the second half.
Hoffman led the Vikings with a team-high five shots while Teà Poore added four.
Enya Hernandez and Sidney O'billovich split time in goal for Portland State, each clocking 45 minutes of action. O'billovich took things over in the second period, allowing just one goal.
