PORTLAND, Ore. — Two late-season races for a pair of Vikings at the Portland Track Festival extended the season for the Portland State track & field program Saturday.
 
Chase Lovercheck posted his best time of the year, finishing second in his heat of the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.51. Lovercheck finished close to a half-second quicker than his previous seasonal best, which he set at 1:53.95 at the OSU High Performance Meet at the beginning of May.
 
Tom Richardson, meanwhile, ran the 1,500 meters in 3:51.43. That's the second-fastest time of the season for Richardson, who claimed the Vikings' fastest 1,500-meter time since 2001 while finishing in 3:48.39 at the Oregon Twilight on May 7.
