OGDEN, Utah — Sixth-year senior Cayla Seligman conjured up one last strong performance at a conference championships Saturday, scoring for the Vikings in the women's 5k at the Big Sky meet.
 
Seligman, who began her college career at the University of Colorado, placed seventh for the Vikings, scoring two points while finishing in 17:19.05 at the Chick Hislop Track and Stewart Stadium.
 
Tom Richardson, another sixth-year senior, matched his fellow elder statesmen with a strong showing on the men's side of the 5k. Richardson didn't score for PSU, but led a group of six Vikings in the race while placing 12th overall in 15:04.67. Ian Vickstrom and Sam Lingwall followed Richardson at 17th and 18th, respectively, in times of 15:15.22 and 15:16.78.
 
Both Richardson and Vickstrom were doubling back in the 5k after running yesterday. Richardson made a game effort in the prelims of the 1,500 meters Friday, finishing 16th overall in 3:55.73. Vickstrom, meanwhile, posted a top-10 mark all-time in the 10,000 meters while finishing 10th in 31:15.09 last night.
 
Evan Peters followed Lingwall at 25th in 15:31.55. Truett Bostwick and Brandon Hippe rounded out the Vikings' 5k squad as they finished 27th and 29th, respectively, in times of 15:44.10 and 16:19.81.
 
Kaila Gibson opened the day for the Vikings in the finals of the women's 1,500 meters, finishing 13th in 4:41.39.
 
Tatum Miller also joined Seligman in the women's 5k, placing 21st in 18:37.79. 
 
A small group of Vikings will close their season tomorrow at the Portland Distance Carnival, hosted by Lewis & Clark College at Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Ore. The postseason then follows for the Vikings, with Gibson and Josh Snyder likely to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, May 26-29, in College Station, Texas.
