MOSCOW, Idaho – The Portland State men's tennis team fell to Idaho 4-1 on Saturday.
The Vikings ended the regular season 7-9 and 3-1Â in conference action while Idaho capped out of its regular-season run 7-5 overall and 3-1Â in Big Sky play.
PSU fell behind early after falling in two of three matches in doubles competition. Tommy Hsu and Sam Roberts pulled out the only victory in doubles action for the Vikings, securing a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
Idaho continued their success into singles play, locking in the first two points with wins at lines two and four. Nikola Dimitrijevic earned a win for the Vikings in the three spot in a hard-fought 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win. The Vandals clinched the dual after pulling off a 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 victory over Viking Matteo Fortini at No. 1 singles.
Portland State sits one spot behind the Vandals in the North Division of the Big Sky rankings. The top two teams following the conclusion of regular season play will head to the Conference tournament in Phoenix on May 1-2.
