HONOLULU – The Portland State women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Chaminade University on Tuesday.
The Vikings improved to 6-8 on the season while Chaminade fell to 0-3.
Playing its first match in nearly two weeks with a full doubles roster, the Vikings began the day with three wins in doubles action, sweeping the field with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0 victories.
PSU didn't hold back in singles play, as
Gerda Upeniece shutout Emily Ramirez at the five spot 6-0, 6-0 to secure a 2-0 Viking lead.

Ashley Ramirez, and
Makoto Ohara did the same in their matches, taking care of business as the Vikings secured a 6-1 dual victory.
Ohara earned a 7-6 (5-), 6-1 win in at No. 3 singles after missing the past four matches due to injury. "It has been a long time since I played outside." The freshman said. "The first set I made a lot of mistakes, but in the second set, I focused on moving my feet and got good results. I was so happy to be on the court again with my teammates."
Portland State will return to action on Thursday against the University of Hawaii at 7:00 p.m. PT.
