SAN DIEGO – The Portland State men's tennis team fell short in a 4-3 decision at Point Loma on Friday.
 
After going 0-2 during their trip to California, the Vikings will enter the final two regular-season matches of the season sitting at .500 (7-7) overall while looking to build on an undefeated Big Sky record of 3-0.
 
The Sea Lions took care of business in doubles action, securing the 1-0 lead with a pair of wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Nikola Dimitrijevic and Bryan Husin earned the Vikings' lone doubles victory of the day at line three defeating their Sea Lion opponents 6-2.
 
Dimitrijevic added to his early success, earning the first point for the Vikings in singles play following a 6-3, 6-1 win. Fortini knotted the dual at two following a victory against Tyler Davis at No. 1 singles (6-3, 7-5) but it was victories at No. 4 and No. 5 that clinched the victory for the Sea Lions.
 
Despite the 4-3 dual decision, Sam Roberts played out the remainder of his match at line six, adding a 6-4, 6-4 win to his season singles record.  
 
Portland State will take a few weeks off before returning to action on April 15. The Vikings will close out the regular season on the road against Boise State (Apr. 15) and the University of Idaho (Apr. 17). The Big Sky Conference tournament is scheduled for May 1-2 in Phoenix, Ariz.
