IRVINE – The Portland State women's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision to Concordia University Irvine this afternoon.
 
Battling injuries with a six-man squad has hindered the Vikings success so far this week.
 
Ashley Ramirez stepped in to replace an injured Makoto Ohara at No.1 doubles against the Eagles, earning a 6-1 victory alongside Capu Sanoner. Playing down a player meant the Vikings needed two victories to clinch the doubles point but Emily Rees and Lotti Meszaros were unable to pull off a victory on court two, resulting in an early 1-0 Eagle lead.
 
Ramirez was the lone Viking to secure a victory in singles action, defeating Tiffany Carrillo 6-4, 6-4 at the in the No. 4 position. The Eagles added to their total with four wins including the injury withdrawal to clinch the 5-1 win.
 
The Vikings will utilize a pair of rest days before returning to the court against Point Loma on Friday at 11 AM.
