HILLSBORO – The Portland State women's soccer team fell to Idaho 5-0 on Sunday at Hillsboro Stadium.
PSU is now 0-4-0 on the season while Idaho improved to 2-4-0.
The Vandals were quick to get on the board, netting their first goal of the afternoon in the fifth minute. They added a pair of goals in the 22
nd and 24
th minutes to take a 3-0 advantage.
Sienna Higinbotham put a shot on target in the 39
th minute for Portland State but was unable to get it past Idaho's Avrie Fox.
Heading into the second half down three, Higinbotham and Papastamos each had good looks for the Vikings putting back-to-back shots on goal but couldn't cash in. The Vandals were able to hold PSU to just four shots in the second half while adding goals in the 59
th and 74
th minutes to run away with a 5-0 victory.
Idaho tallied 22 shots in the match, putting 11 on goal while the Vikings recorded 7, four of those on target. For the fourth-straight game, sophomore
Enya Hernandez spent all 90 minutes in goal for Portland State denying six Vandal shots in the contest.

PSU will return to action next weekend against Montana. The Grizzlies will host PSU for a 7 PM matchup on Friday (March 26) and again on Sunday (March 28) at 1 PM.
