Jensen Scores First Career Goal In Vikings' 3-1 Loss At Eastern Washington

CHENEY – The Portland State women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Eastern Washington on Sunday.
 
The Vikings begin the season 0-2 while the Eagles improve to 2-0 in Big Sky action. 
 
The Eagles were the first to strike, netting their first goal in the 23rd minute. After nearly 50 minutes of scoreless soccer, EWU struck again in the 70th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
 
Ani Jensen was quick to respond for the Vikings, scoring the first collegiate goal of her career just two minutes after the Eagles to cut their lead down to one.
 
The Eagles added one more in the 74th minute before the remainder of the match was scoreless resulting in a 3-1 victory for Eastern Washington.
 
The Vikings totaled seven shots in the contest putting four on goal. Chloe Huling, Sofi Papastamos, and Megan Cornett also put shots on target for PSU but were unable to squeeze them past Eagle goalkeeper Kelsee Winston.
 
Enya Hernandez spent all 90 minutes in goal for Portland State, making six saves, five of those coming in the opening 45 minutes of action.
 
The Vikings will return to action in their home opener next weekend as they take on Idaho on Friday, March 19 and Sunday, March 21, both slated for 1 p.m at Hillsboro Stadium.
