SEATTLE – The Portland State softball team fell to No. 8 Washington (8-0) and Seattle (10-4) in the second day of the Husky Classic on Saturday.

The Vikings began the day dropping a contest to the Huskies, tallying four hits through five innings. PSU limited the Huskies to just four runs prior to the fourth inning, when Washington went on a six-run tear to clinch an 8-0 run rule victory.

Allicitie Frost got the start against Seattle for the Vikings in game two. The Redhawks struck first in the top of the first but the Vikings answered quickly, scoring a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie it up.

PSU shifted the momentum in the third, taking its first lead of the game.
Marissa Bruno brought the Vikings to life, slamming the first home run of her redshirt senior season before a squeeze bunt from
Emily Johansen scored
Maddie Thompson.
Rachel Menlove tallied the final RBI of the inning to give the Vikings a 4-3 lead.

The Redhawks knotted the game at four in the top of the fourth but remained quiet in the following two frames. The Redhawks finally broke through in the top of the seventh, putting up six runs off of three hits, coasting to a 10-4 victory.

Maddie Thompson and
Olivia Dean carried the offense at the top of the lineup, accounting for six of the Vikings' eight hits. Johansen had a team-best and season-best two RBI. Â

Portland State will close out the Husky Classic on Sunday at noon against No. 8 Washington.
