PORTLAND – The Portland State men's tennis team clinched its second Big Sky victory of the season in a 6-1 decision over Montana State on Saturday.

Portland State handed the Bobcats their first loss of the season, dropping them to 3-1 on the year. The Vikings improved to 5-5 overall.

Tommy Edwards and
Matteo Fortini cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles to begin the match but it was
Tommy Hsu and
Sam Roberts who set the tone for the Vikings, earning a 7-6 tiebreaker win to secure the 1-0 lead.

The Vikings rode on their momentum through singles action. Fortini took charge in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while
Nils Plutat did the same at the five spot, defeating his Bobcat opponent 6-2, 6-3. Edwards was tested at No. 2 singles but came out on top 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Roberts and
Nikola Dimitrijevic sealed the deal for the Vikings, each earning victories en route to a 6-1 win.

PSU will return to action on Friday, March 19 as they take a break from Big Sky action to dual with Seattle University at the Tualatin Hills Babette Horenstein Tennis Center.
