Skyler Fulton Named To Viking Football Coaching Staff

Portland State Football Coach Bruce Barnum has announced the hiring of Skyler Fulton as an assistant coach with the Vikings.

Fulton, who spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will become Portland State's wide receivers coach.

"Hiring Skyler was an opportunity I couldn't pass up as a head coach," said Barnum. "The knowledge and experience he will bring to that group and the program will be invaluable. He has always had an energy factor and a "juice" around athletic events that I have not seen matched. It will be fun to add that energy to the Park Blocks."

Fulton spent the 2018 season as wide receivers coach on Dirk Koetter's staff with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was an offensive assistant with the Bucs in 2017, and worked with the team under the Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship in 2016. Fulton has also coached at Citrus College and Grossmont College in California.

Fulton attended Arizona State where he played under Koetter from 2001-03. As a senior, he caught 62 passes for 901 yards and 10 touchdowns, tying for second in the Pac-10. Fulton was named the team's Offensive Most Valuable Player, and Academic All-Pac-10. He was also named to the AFCA Good Works Team and selected as a Sparky Unsung Hero Award winner.

Fulton was in NFL camps with Indianapolis, Seattle and Minnesota. He played two seasons in NFL Europe (2006-07) with the Amsterdam Admirals, leading the league in receiving both seasons.

Viking Assistant Coach Evan Mozzochi, who has been the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach, has been given an advanced role in Portland State recruiting along with being quarterbacks and tight ends coach for 2019. The Vikings' previous tight ends coach, AC Patterson, was hired by the Minnesota Vikings in the off-season.
