Portland State football player Daniel Giannosa is the latest Viking to earn Big Sky Conference honors as today he was given the Community Service Award by the league.
 
Giannosa, who just completed his junior season, has played in 30 games in his career including at tight end, offensive line and long snapper. He started two games at right tackle this season. Giannosa is a two-Academic All-Big Sky Conference honoree as well.
 
In its inaugural year, the Big Sky Community Service Award recognizes football student-athletes who have dedicated their time to helping others and have gone above and beyond in making an impact on their campus and community. Award winners were nominated by their respective head coaches. Each team in the Big Sky has a student-athlete represented on the Community Service team.
 
The 13 honorees include seven seniors, four juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman. Among the group is Montana senior linebacker Dante Olson, who was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community service efforts. The linebacker is also a finalist for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy.
