CHENEY, Wash. —
Playing for the Big Sky lead for the first time since 2013, the Portland State women's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road to preseason-favorite Eastern Washington Friday.

The Eagles took a four-point lead over the Vikings in the Big Sky standings with the win, while the Vikings fell back into a tie for second place with Northern Colorado.

The Eagles (11-4-1, 5-0-1 Big Sky) and Vikings (7-7-0, 4-2-0 Big Sky) entered their match Friday as the two hottest teams in the Big Sky Conference, but it was the Eagles who remained hot by the end. The Eagles won their fifth straight match with the win over the Vikings, and have won those last five matches by a combined score of 15-1.

The Eagles outshot the Vikings 25-2 in their match Friday, and held Viking senior Katie Forsee without a shot for the first time this season.

Jenny Chavez put the Eagles up 1-0 in the 37th minute with a goal off a free kick from M'Kenna Hayes. Chloe Williams then doubled the Eagles' lead with her conference record-tying 39th career goal in the 48th minute.

Aimie Inthoulay added a third goal for the Eagles in the 72nd minute off assists from Hayes and Allison Raniere.

The Vikings will now continue on the road against Idaho Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. (PT) at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho.
