Viking Football Will Face Washington In Pac-12 Network Game

Two road game times have been set for Viking football for the 2016 season.

Portland State will face the University of Washington in a 5 p.m. game televised on the Pac-12 Network on Sept. 17 in Seattle. That time and TV matchup was set by the Pac-12 Network on Wednesday as it released early-season game times.

The Vikings come off a 9-3 season in 2015, finishing 6-2 in the Big Sky Conference and reaching the FCS playoffs. The Huskies were 7-6 in 2015, 4-5 in the Pac-12, and defeated Southern Miss in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

PSU's appearance on the Pac-12 Network will be its fifth in the last four years. The Vikings have played Cal, Oregon State and Washington State (twice) previously in Pac-12 Network games.

The contest with Washington is also the second announced televised game for the Vikings. PSU will host Eastern Washington in a Root Sports TV game on Friday, Nov. 18 at Providence Park.

One other road game time has been set for 2016. The Vikings will meet 2015 Big Sky Conference Champion Southern Utah in Cedar City in a 6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT game on Sept. 24. It will be the Big Sky Conference opener for the league's top teams from 2015.

Southern Utah completed 2015 with an 8-4 record, 7-1 in the Big Sky, and also reached the FCS playoffs. PSU handed the Thunderbirds their only league loss last year, winning 24-23 in Providence Park.

Portland State home game times and additional road game times will come later in the summer.
