Portland, OR - Martin Breunig scored 26 of his game-high 32 points in the second half as Montana came back from an 11-point deficit to beat Portland State, 82-80, at the Stott Center.

Breunig made 11-11 shots in the second half and 13-14 for the game in leading the Griz to the win. PSU was up nine points at halftime and held an 11-point lead with 17:12 remaining to be played, but the Vikings couldn't stop the Grizzlies' big man. Breunig added 10 rebounds, including seven in the second half, and a total of seven on the offensive glass.

Portland State shot a brilliant 29-47 for the game (.617), but Montana got 13 more field goal attempts, hitting 31-60 (.517). The Grizzlies out-rebounded the Vikings, 31-22, including 14-4 on the offensive boards, giving them extra opportunities in the comeback.

The Vikings fell to 8-13 on the season, 4-6 in the Big Sky Conference with the loss. Montana maintains first place in the Big Sky at 9-2, 14-8 overall.

Montana kept the game at its pace early, limiting the Vikings to a half-court game. But Portland State increased the tempo, making seven first-half steals as the Griz had 10 turnovers. PSU hit 15-24 from the field and built a 39-30 halftime. Collin Spickerman led the Vikings, making 5-5 shots for 10 points.

The Vikings got the lead to 11 on three occasions early in the second half, but the Griz chipped away at the deficit behind the inside game of Breunig. A three-pointer by Walter Wright with just over six minutes to play finally put Montana on top 64-63. That was part of a 13-3 run that eventually had the Griz ahead 68-63 at the 4:07 mark.

PSU tied it back up at 68, but Breunig followed with consecutive "and-one" three-point plays. At that point Montana had its biggest lead at 74-68 with 2:26 left in the game.

The Vikings couldn't overcome the six-point deficit as Montana made 6-8 free throws in the final minute.

Donivine Stewart led four Vikings in double-figures by matching his season high of 17 points. Stewart made 5-8 from the field and 6-8 at the line. He added five assists for the Vikings.
