Pocatello, ID - For the second time this season, Idaho State road the coattails of point guard Ethan Telfair to an 88-71 victory over Portland State. Telfair had 35 points and five assists, and sparked a second-half run when the Vikings had pulled within a point.

Telfair hit 12-20 shots from the field, 5-11 from three-point range and 6-8 at the free throw line. He led the Bengals to their sixth win in seven games as they improved to 7-4 in the Big Sky Conference, 12-11 overall. In a Jan. 16 win over the Vikings, Telfair had 25 points and 11 assists.

Cameron Forte had another big game for Portland State with 26 points and 13 rebounds. He made 11-15 shots and 4-6 at the line. PSU's loss dropped it to 8-14 overall, 4-7 in the Big Sky.

Idaho State shot .586 from the field in the first half to build a lead. The Vikings were at only .414 through 20 minutes. By then, Telfair already had 17 points. Forte countered with 14 points and six rebounds, but when ISU's Gary Chivichyan hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer the Bengals led 45-31.

Portland State cut the ISU lead to single digits early in the second half, but it wasn't until Armani Collins came into the game that they really made their move. Collins hit three three-pointers in the space of four minutes, pulling the Viks within 56-55 at the 12:07 mark. It appeared PSU had the momentum and a shot at victory.

But the Bengals' 6-foot guard took over, scoring eight points in a 12-2 Idaho State run. That had the Bengals back to a double-digit lead of 69-57 with 8:48 to go. The Vikings got no closer than six after that, and Idaho State pulled away in the final four minutes for a 17-point margin of victory.

Idaho State made 32-57 shots on the night for a .561 mark. Portland State finished at 25-63 (.397). PSU made only 7-26 from three-point range (.267), while the Bengals were 11-24 (.458).

Geno Luzcando scored 17 points and Chivichyan added 13.

Collins and Zach Gengler each had nine points for the Vikings. Gengler pitched in a team-high five assists.
