Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Portland State fell twice on the second day of the DeMarini Desert Classic hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. The Vikings opened the day with a tough 4-2 loss to Nevada before falling 8-0 in six innings to San Jose State.

Game 1 – Nevada 4, Portland State 2Â
Nevada plated the first run of the tame in the top of the first with a solo home run off Portland State starting pitcher
Meagan Hendrix to go up 1-0.

After getting two base runners on over the first three innings, the Vikings tied the game with a solo home run of their own.
Alex Flores drove her second home run in as many games over the center field fence to even the game at 1-1.

After allowing the solo shot in the top of the second, Hendrix held Nevada scoreless over the next three innings. The leadoff batter singled up the middle for the Wolf Pack to start the sixth. The next batter hit a two-run home run over the wall in right center to put Nevada up 3-1.

Nevada added another run in the top of the seventh with its third home run of the game, another solo shot, to go up 4-1.

The Vikings started the bottom of the seventh needing three runs to tie the game, four two win.
Kortney Craker led off the inning with a walk. Pinch hitter
Jenna Stanford hit an infield single to put two on with nobody out. The next batter reached on a fielder's choice but it put runners on the corners.

Lexi Goranson singled to right field to drive in Craker from third to pull the Vikings within two runs with one out.
Shae Nelson singled to center to load the bases. Portland State had two opportunities to get a potential game-tying hit but back-to-back fly outs ended the Vikings' comeback chances and they fell 4-2.

Hendrix fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss. She allowed four runs, all earned, off five hits, including three home runs. She walked one and struck out two.
