This WeekendThe Portland State Vikings (8-26 overall, 1-5 Big Sky Conference) host the Northern Colorado Bears (8-17-1, 3-3) for a three-game Big Sky Conference series at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex in Hillsboro, Ore. The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 at 1 p.m. The series finale is slated for Saturday, April 4 at 12 p.m. and will also be Breast Cancer Awareness Day.Â

Rain Out ProcedureWith the Vikings' move to Hillsboro, they will have immediate access to a turf field if the weather makes Gordon Faber No. 4 not playable. If inclement weather comes into play, fans can check GoViks.com and Portland State social media for an updated game status.Â
The Bears   Northern Colorado opens play this weekend 8-17-1 overall and 3-3 in Big Sky play. The Bears opened the season 5-5-1, including a 10-10 tie with Southern Illinois, before dropping their next 12 games including three at Sacramento State to open conference action. Northern Colorado got back in the win column last weekend with three conference wins over North Dakota.Â
   The Bears are hitting .268 overall this season while opponents are hitting .317. They have been out-scored this season 149-to-121. Northern Colorado has a team slugging percentage of .418 and an on-base percentage of .360. In conference, the Bears are hitting .340 as a team after the sweep of North Dakota. They out-scored UND 37-6 in the series.Â
   Melissa Marcoveccio leads the team with a .354 batting average and has started every game. She leads the team in at bats (79), hits (28), walks (11), and slugging percentage (.557). She has thee doubles, two triples, and a trio of home runs. Kaitlin Flynn leads the team with six home runs and is second with 15 RBIs.Â
   Northern Colorado's pitching staff has a combined 4.89 ERA this season. Jayme Reddacliff is 6-9 this season with 14 starts. She has thrown a team-high 105 2/3 innings and has allowed 78 runs, 52 earned, on 134 hits including 29 extra base hits. Opponents are hitting .304 off Reddacliff. She is 2-2 with a 2.88 ERA in conference play.Â
   Defensively, Northern Colorado has committed 29 errors in 26 games, which have led to 32 unearned runs.Â
Up NextAfter play against Northern Colorado this weekend, the Vikings will host No. 1 Oregon for a doubleheader at Gordon Faber on Tuesday, April 7 beginning at 4 p.m. Portland State will then head out on the road for six straight Big Sky road games at Idaho State (April 10-11) and North Dakota (April 17-18).
News & NotesAn Achievement That Can Almost VotePortland State did something at Seattle (4/1) that it has not done in nearly 18 years when it scored 15 runs in a game to win 15-10 in eight innings. The last time the Vikings scored 15 runs in a game was a 15-2 win over Cal State Hayward on April 18, 1997.Â
Winning It LatePortland State's 15-10 win over Seattle (4/1) in eight innings was the first PSU extra-inning win in nearly two years. The last time the Vikings won in extras was against Sacramento State on April 27, 2013 when they won 6-5 in nine innings.Â
Crooked Numbers for HendricksonBrittany Hendrickson is hitting .571 (8-for-14) with three runs scored, a pair of doubles, and 11 RBIs over her current four-game hitting streak. During her streak she has three multi-hit games and has driven in at least two runs in each, including a four-RBI game at Seattle (4/1). It was the first four-RBI game by a Viking since
Aubrey Nitschelm drove in four last season against New Mexico.Â
Smith on a RollAshley Smith is hitting .467 over her current six-game hitting streak. She has three multi-hit games and a pair of multi-RBI games over the streak. She has 10 hits (10-for-21) with seven runs scored, a double, two triples, her first home run as a Viking, and six RBIs. She is slugging .857 with an on-base percentage of .560 over the same period.Â

Meagan Hendrix made her first plate appearance of the season for the Vikings at Seattle (4/1). After recording an out in her at bat, she picked up her first career hit in the top of the third inning.Â
Flores Finding Her WayAfter going hitless for nine games, sophomore C
Alex Flores has hit safely in 11 of the last 14 games. Flores has raised her batting average to .229 on the season.Â
