POCATELLO, Idaho – The Portland State softball team dropped a pair of games to the Idaho State Bengals Friday afternoon in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bengals took both games by scores of 8-0 in five innings.

The Vikings struggled at the plate collecting just three hits over the two games. Junior Brianna Celaya picked up two of the three hits hitting safely in both games.

Idaho State plated two runs in the bottom of the first in game one to go up 2-0. The Bengals added three more runs in the second and three more in the bottom of the fourth to go up 8-0.

The Vikings scattered six base runners over the course of the first game but were unable to get passed second base in the game and fell 8-0 in five innings.

The Bengals put together a big second inning in game two plating six runs, including a three-run home run. ISU added another run in the bottom of the third and one more in the bottom of the fourth to go up 8-0.

Portland State had a pair of runner on in each of the first two innings but went in order over the final three frames and fell 8-0 in five innings.

Idaho State improved to 24-14 overall and 9-2 in Big Sky Conference play while Portland State fell to 10-29 and 3-8.

Portland State and Idaho State will square off in the series finale slated for Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. MT.Â
