POCATELLO, Idaho —
Sophomore Sheldon Prince and freshman Gifton Okoronkwo won Big Sky titles in the men's 400 meters and triple jump, respectively, Saturday, as the Portland State track and field teams wrapped competition at the Big Sky Championships in Holt Arena.

The PSU women finished sixth overall with 57 points, while Prince and Okoronkwo's individual titles led the PSU men to an eighth-place finish and 39 points, their most points at the Big Sky Indoor meet since 2005.

Prince and Okoronkwo also became the first PSU men's teammates to win Big Sky conference titles in the same season, while each became the first Viking men to win their respective events in the history of the Portland State men's program.

Prince won his title in the 400 meters while blowing away his own school record in the event, as he finished in 47.86 seconds, 0.78 seconds faster than his previous school record of 48.64.

Prince also scored points for the Vikings with a fifth-place finish in the men's 200 meters, as he finished in 22.09 seconds.

Okoronkwo, meanwhile, won his Big Sky title in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 48-05.25 (14.76m). Okoronkwo, already No. 2 in the triple jump at Portland State, moved within two feet of the school record with his jump Saturday. Okoronkwo also finished his first indoor season for the Vikings having cleared 14.50 meters in three of his five triple jumps during the season.

Sophomore Michael Kubisiak also earned All-Big Sky honors for the PSU men with a third-place finish in the 60 meters, as he crossed the line in a personal-best 6.88 seconds.

The Vikings got five total points out of the men's high jump as well, as senior Nevin Lewis and sophomore Rockwell Tufty finished in ties for fifth and eighth place, respectively. Lewis nearly matched the personal best he set in the heptathlon Thursday, as he cleared 6-06.75 (2.00m). Tufty, on the other hand, suffered his worst mark of the season at the exact wrong time, as he jumped 6-04.75 (1.95m) Saturday, a foot and a half under his previous low this season.

The PSU women, meanwhile, added three All-Big Sky performances to freshman Baileh Simms' second-place finish in the long jump Friday. Ratcliff, who raced in three finals Saturday, placed second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.44 seconds, a time that would have set a new school record had she not already broken the record in the prelims Friday. Freshman CeCelia Jackson also scored for the Vikings with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday, as she crossed the line in 8.72 seconds.

Ratcliff also earned All-Big Sky honors with a third-place finish in the 60-meters, crossing the line in 7.50 seconds to tie the personal best she set Friday in the prelims. Freshman Genna Settle scored in the 60 meters as well, as she finished in 7.68 seconds.

Ratcliff scored in the 200 meters as well, placing seventh in 24.88 seconds.

Freshman Whitney Diggs also earned All-Big Sky honors with a third-place finish in the 400 meters, as she broke the school record she set in the prelims with a time of 54.89 seconds in the finals.

Diggs was part of the Vikings' 4x400-meter relay team that placed fourth at the championships as well, joining Dejuanae Toliver, Roazena Miller and Kris Tollefson in finishing in 3:47.43. The team's time ranks third all-time at Portland State in the indoor 4x400-meter relay, and was the best relay time of the season.

Senior Camelia Mayfield, meanwhile, scored in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters for the Vikings, placing sixth and fourth, respectively, in times of 10:20.51 and 17:53.48.

Junior Montaisha Moore also scored with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump Saturday, as she jumped a seasonal-best 39-02.25 (11.94m).
