PORTLAND
– Senior forward Angela Misa posted her fifth double-double of the season lifting the Vikings to a 66-60 win over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon at the Peter W. Stott Center.

"Our team really responded well in the second half," head coach Sherri Murrell said following the game. "We weren't really executing any of the plays that we drew up and were settling for jump shots. We asked them to get points in the paint, whether on drives or by dumping it into our posts. I've got to give our team a lot of credit for coming out and scoring in the paint in the second half."

It was a tale of two halves for the Vikings. They shot just .200 (6-for-30) from the floor in the first while scoring just 19 points, six coming in the paint. They came out looking like a different team in the second half shooting .500 (15-30) while scoring 47 points, 26 in the paint.

Misa scored a team-high 16 points for the Vikings while pulling down 16 rebounds, her season high. Misa went 6-for-12 from the floor and 4-for-9 from the free-throw line. Misa came up big in the second half scoring 14 of her 16 points. She pulled down six of PSU's 18 offensive rebounds in the game. Misa added two assists, two blocks, and three steals.

Senior guard Kate Lanz added 14 points for the Vikings, nine of which came from the free-throw line. She added five rebounds and seven assists in the ballgame. Sophomore guard Emily Easom added nine points for the Vikings on 4-of-8 shooting.

The Vikings (4-8 overall, 2-1 Big Sky Conference) struggled early in the first half and quickly found themselves in an eight-point hole. Portland State cut the deficit to just a point on an Easom three-pointer with just over two minutes to play in the first. Weber State (4-7, 0-2) hit a late jumper to take a 22-19 advantage into the break.

Junior guard Lariel Powell came in off the bench in the second half and provided a much-needed spark for the Vikings. Just after checking in, Powell hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 28-28 with just over 15 minutes remaining. She hit another free throw less than a minute later to give the Vikings their first lead of the game at 29-28.

Senior forward Allie Brock got into the action hitting a three-pointer to give the Vikings a four-point lead. Two more free throws from Lanz and a Powell fast break layup gave the Vikings their largest lead of the game at 36-28 to cap a 10-0 run by the Vikings.

Weber State came back with a run of its own to take a short-lived lead at 39-28 before Powell came right back with another layup to retake the lead. The Vikings built up a seven-point lead several times over the next few minutes before the Wildcats cut the lead to two points at 56-54 with just under three minutes remaining.

The Vikings had the ball up four with just over a minute left needing one more bucket to potentially seal the deal. Brock came up with a big jumper from the top of the key to put the Vikings up six, 61-55, with 1:04 to play.

Weber State fouled to extend the game but Lanz went 5-of-6 from the line over the last minute of the game to secure the 66-60 win for the Vikings.
