Vikings Fall to Lady Griz, 94-58 in Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont.
– Montana got out to an early lead and held it throughout to defeat Portland State 94-58 Saturday afternoon in Missoula, Mont.

Sophomore guard Emily Easom posted a season-high 21 points for the Vikings going 7-for-12 from the floor with three three-pointers. She also went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and pulled down three rebounds.

Easom has scored in double digits eight times this season including the last two games. Her 21 points Saturday pushed her scoring average to 10.2 points per game this season. Her 23 three-pointers leads the team.

Junior forward Mikaela Rivard added nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the game for the Vikings. Portland State (4-10 overall, 2-3 Big Sky Conference) was without senior forward Angela Misa after she left Thursday's game with an injury.

The Lady Griz (9-4 overall, 3-1 Big Sky Conference) scored the first 12 points of the game to take the early lead and never looked back, leading the entire game. Montana went up by as many as 22 points in the first half before taking a 49-30 lead going to the break.

Montana continued to score in the second half, going up by as much as 45 points late in the second before taking the game 94-58. Montana dominated in the paint outscoring Portland State 40-to-24.

Kellie Cole led the Lady Griz with 23 points to lead all scorers. She went 9-for-11 from the floor, 3-for-3 from distance, and 2-for-2 from the line. Torry Hill added 14 points, eight assists, and seven steals for Montana. Montana had four players in double figures.
