OGDEN, Utah – Sophomore first baseman
Brittany Hendrickson's near cycle and senior pitcher
Anna Bertrand's one-hitter led the Vikings to a 9-2 win over the Weber State Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Ogden, Utah. The win gave the Vikings their first series sweep of the Big Sky Conference season.
Hendrickson was perfect from the plate going 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs and a triple falling just a double short of the cycle. The four hits was a career high as was her three runs scored in the game. She has hit safely in six of the last seven games hitting .500 (12-for-24) with eight runs scored, seven runs batted in and three home runs.
Bertrand was just as dominant from the circle as Hendrickson was from the plate. She threw the first one-hitter by a Viking since she one-hit Seattle last season. She allowed two runs, one earned, while walking three and striking out seven. She picked up her third win on the weekend to improve to 9-12 on the season.
Portland State (12-21 overall, 5-1 Big Sky Conference) got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the first.
Carly McEachran led off with a single up the middle. The Vikings loaded the bases after both Becca and Laruan Bliss were hit by pitches. After Weber State pulled their starting pitcher, Hendrickson singled up the middle scoring McEachran and B. Bliss to go up 2-0.
Weber State (6-24, 2-4) got their only hit off Bertrand when B. Silva hit a solo home run with two outs cutting the lead to 2-1.

Alexa Morales and
Aubrey Nitschelm in the top of the fourth to extend the Vikings' lead to 4-1. Hendrickson made it 5-1 with a solo home run in the top of the third.
Hendrickson tripled down the right field line with one out in the fifth inning. It was her second career triple and just the second for the Vikings this season. Two batters later, Hendrickson scored when
Alicia Fine reached on a two-out error by the Wildcat third baseman extending the Vikings' lead to 6-1.
Weber State picked up an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 6-2 through five innings.
The Vikings picked up an unearned run in the top of the sixth and then two more in the top of the seventh. Hendrickson led off the seventh with another solo home run, her seventh of the season. Pinch hitter
Sadie Petersen drove in
Melissa Masters who scored from third on a sacrifice fly to left field increasing the PSU lead to 9-2.
Bertrand then set down the Wildcats in order to secure the win for the Vikings which extend their season high winning streak to four games.
The Vikings return to Erv Lind Stadium next Friday and Saturday for a three-game series with the Northern Colorado Bears.

Brittany Hendrickson recorded single-game career highs in hits (four), runs (3), and home runs (2) … Portland State now has 28 home runs after hitting 27 in all of 2012.
