PORTLAND – Senior forward
Angela Misa posted a season-high 18 points but it was not enough as Portland State fell to the Princeton, 94-76, in a wild game Saturday at the Peter W. Stott Center.
Misa went 7-for-13 from the field in the game with four rebounds. She scored 13 of her 18 in the second half.
Kate Lanz and
Allie Brock each had double-digit points for the fourth straight game to start the season. Lanz posted 14 points, three rebounds and five assists in the game.
Brock had 13 points with a team-high seven rebounds, six coming on the offensive glass.
Emily Easom posted a season-high 14 points including a season-high four three-pointers.
Portland State (1-3 overall) scored a season-high 76 points while shooting a season-high .408 from the floor. Princeton (3-3) shot .625 from the floor while putting up 94 points, 48 of which came in the paint.
The Vikings turned the ball over a season-low 10 times while forcing 17 Tigers turnovers. They turned those 17 turnovers into 20 points.
The Tigers got out to a quick 4-0 lead scoring on their first two possessions of the game. The Vikings came right back with a jumper from Lanz and a three-pointer from Easom. Easom hit her second three of the game to put the Vikings up by five at 13-11 with 13:49 remaining in the first. That would be the largest lead of the game for the Vikings.
Princeton briefly took a brief one-point lead with eight seconds left in the half before Lanz brought the ball up court and drained a straight on three-pointer off the glass to give the Vikings a 44-42 lead at the half.
Lanz posted 12 of her 14 in the first half going 5-for-7 from the floor. Princeton outshot Portland State 69.6 percent to 48.6 percent in the first half.
In a tale of two halves, it was all Princeton in the second. The Tigers outscored the Vikings 52-32 in the second half. Misa scored 13 points in the second half going 5-for-7.
The Tigers had six players in double-figures led by Blake Deitrick's 19 points.
The Vikings will be back at the Stott Center Sunday at 2 p.m. when they take on Columbia, their second straight Ivy League opponent.
