Portland, OR - Portland State made its first 15 field goals of the second half to break open the game and roll over Pacific Lutheran, 79-43, at the Stott Center.

The Vikings led 32-23 at halftime, then didn't miss a shot in the second half until a three-pointer was off with 3:15 left to play. PSU was 15-15 from the field, 3-3 from three-point range and 10-14 at that line during the stretch and outscored the Lutes 47-20 in the second half.

Point guard Tim Douglas led the Viking runaway, scoring 11 of his team-high 16 points in the second half. DaShaun Wiggins added 13 points, Andre Winston scored 11 and Zach Gengler had 10 with four assists.

Playing its home opener, the Vikings improved to 1-1 on the season. The Lutes went to 0-1.

Pacific Lutheran kept the pace to its liking in the opening 20 minutes, slowing it down to a half-court game. The problem for the Lutes was they made only 7-32 field goals (.219). The Vikings weren't a lot better at 8-24 (.333), but hit 14-19 at the free throw line. That got them to a 32-23 halftime advantage.

Portland State warmed up in the second half though to come away with an easy win. PSU finished at 24-45 from the field (.533), 5-10 from three-point range (.500) and 26-37 at the line (.703).

"That just shows when you execute and do the right things, you can get good shots," said Viking Coach Tyler Geving.

PLU was held to 14-58 from the field overall (.241) and the Vikings forced the Lutes into 18 turnovers, scoring 21 points off those mistakes.

Bryce Miller led PLU with 14 points and five rebounds.
