Portland State has added point guard Koren Johnson for the 2026-27 season as announced by Head Coach
Jase Coburn.
Johnson, a 6-1 guard, is a former Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year at Washington, and most recently played at Ole Miss.
"We are really excited to add Koren to our program. His talent and ability are off the charts," Coburn said. "He can score and make plays with anyone in the country, and he has proven that in his career.
"Koren has the ability to get a bucket but also is really good at making others around him better. Defensively, he will fit our system and is great at being disruptive. I feel like we will be a great fit and perfect match for each other as a player and a program."
Johnson brings ball-handling to the Portland State roster for the coming year. He played two seasons at Washington. In 2023-24, he was the Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 11.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He spent an injury-plagued season at Louisville before competing at Ole Miss last season.
Johnson attended Garfield High School in Seattle, where he led the team to a 2020 State Championship. He was ranked as the number-one recruit out of the state of Washington in 2022 and number-25 point guard in the nation.
Johnson joins a Portland State program that won the Big Sky Conference regular season championship in 2025-26 (20-11/13-5) and is led by Big Sky Coach of the Year
Jase Coburn.
