STARKVILLE, Miss. – Junior pitcher
Anna Bertrand was named to the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Pacific Region second team as announced on Thursday for the second consecutive season.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
Bertrand is 22-11 on the season with an earned run average of 1.66 in 41 appearances. She picked up eight Pacific Coast Softball Conference Mountain Division Mountain Division Pitcher of the Week honors on way to being named the PCSC Mountain Division Pitcher of the Year.
Bertrand has 218 strikeouts on the season, which is tied for second all-time at Portland State for single-season strikeouts. She also struck out 218 in 2010. Her 601 strikeouts for her career is third all-time and is just three short of tying second all-time at 604.
Bertrand and the Vikings take on No. 11-seeded Oregon Thursday night at Howe Field in Eugene, Ore. in regional action of the NCAA Women's Softball Tournament.
