PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State track teams head to Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. this Friday and Saturday for the Oregon Relays.
MEET INFORMATION:
The two-day event will start on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. PDT with the women's discus. The Friday afternoon session will so see the men's 5,000-meter B section, long and triple jumps along with the 800 and 1,500-meter B section events. The Friday night session will have the 200-meters, women's javelin, the 1,500-meter as well as the women's 5,000-meters.
Saturday will have the rest of the featured events starting with the women's hammer throw at 11 a.m. and culminating with the 4x400-meter relay.
LAST YEAR AT THE OREGON RELAYS:
Karene King led the way in the first day of last year's Oregon Relays with a then-personal-best time of 23.86 to finish third overall in the women's 200-meter dash. It was the first time that King broke the 24 seconds barrier.
Tony Crisofulli broke the school record in the 800-meters with a time of 1:49.11, which would eventually qualify him of the NCAA West Regional and earn him All-Big Sky honors.
Luke Leddige finished fourth overall in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
Adrienne Davis threw a then-career-best mark of 46-03.50 in the women's shot put, at the time it was the second best all-time at Portland State. She would improve on her distance later in the season.
Geronne Black finished second in the 100-meters with a time of 11.80.
LAST TIME OUT:
Amber Rozcicha won the women's 5,000-meters on the first day of the MONDO Mid-Major Challenge with a personal-best time of 17:17.11 to improve on her Big Sky qualifying time by over three seconds and move closer to third all-time at Portland State for the event.
Also on the first day of the challenge,
Mandy Keifer totaled 4,630 points over the seven events of the women's heptathlon to qualify for the championship and did not finish lower than third place in the final three events of the heptathlon. She started the day with a personal-best distance of 17-00.00 (5.18m) in the long jump and then took second in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 122-01 (37.22m).
Geronne Black posted the fastest time in Portland State history in the women's 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 11.58, which breaks Karene Kings previous record by 0.01, which she set in 2011. Black now holds the outdoor 100-meter school record and the indoor 60-meter school and Big Sky Conference Records.

Jazmin Ratcliff ran the second fastest time in Portland State history, 45.44, to win the event and start the day off on the firth foot for the Vikings.
TAKING OVER THE RECORD BOOKS:

Geronne Black continues to make an impact in the Portland State record books. Black broke the Portland State all-time record for the women's outdoor 100-meter dash at the MONDO Mid-Major Challenge with a time of 11.58. With the Portland State record out of the way, she now sets her eyes on the Big Sky all-time record of 11.55 set by Joyce Rainwater of Eastern Washington in 1995. Along with her outdoor 100-meters record, she holds the Portland State and Big Sky Conference all-time record in the indoor 60-meter dash.
WEST REGIONAL RANKINGS:
Portland State currently has one individual and one relay team listed on the NCAA Division I West Outdoor Qualifying List's top-48, the qualifying standard for most events at the championship, held May 24-26 in Austin, Texas. Portland State has sent as many as nine athletes to the regional (2006) and sent six last season. Listed below are the Vikings who rank amongst the region's best:
