OREM, Utah – Becca Bliss delivered a game-winning double in game one and Karmen Holladay blasted a walkoff home run in game two as Portland State swept a doubleheader from Utah Valley on Saturday in Pacific Coast Softball Conference action.

PSU took the opener, 3-2 in eight innings, before winning another pitchers dual in game two, 1-0. The pair of walkoff hits helped the defending PCSC champion Vikings (13-14) open up league action at 3-1 after splitting a doubleheader with the Wolverines yesterday.

Utah Valley fell to 20-10-1, 1-3 PCSC.

The Vikings' bats were relatively quiet through the first seven innings of the opener, but they came up with two big hits in the bottom of the eighth to escape with the 3-2 victory.

Alexa Morales, who had come on as a pinch hitter in the fifth and singled, opened up the eighth with a base hit back up the middle. After Carly McEachran moved her over on a sacrifice bunt and Kayla Norrie reached on a Utah Valley fielding error, Becca Bliss ended the game with a double to right field.

Utah Valley had opened up a 2-0 lead after solo home runs by Amanda Perez in the third and Krystin Jachim in the fourth.

PSU knotted the contest up with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth, with Kayla Norrie driving in McEachran on a single to center and Jenna Krogh plating Norrie on a base hit to left field.

Anna Bertrand went the distance for Portland State, scattering five hits, walking one and striking out four.

Utah Valley's Tiffany Mills was equally effective, but fell to 10-7 with the complete-game loss. Mills gave up six hits and just one earned run with three walks and four strikeouts.

Bertrand came right back in the next game and worked all seven innings again, allowing only a pair singles with one walk and four more Ks. Utah Valley managed just five base runners, as Bertrand sat the Wolverines down in order four times. The junior righty upped her record to 11-7 with the two victories on the day.

Portland State had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the fifth, but stranded a pair of runners. It didn't matter though, after Holladay hit the Vikings' first walk off home run not via the eight-run rule since 2006.

Cassie Herrera (6-2) suffered the loss for the Wolverines despite only giving up five hits with no walks.

Krogh led the Vikings with two hits, while Danai Martin had a pair of sacrifice bunts.

The Vikings return to action on Wednesday, playing a non-league doubleheader at Oregon State at 2 p.m.
